Arabic language sounds nice only when it is spoken slowly.

Hatta derler ki, "Most widely spoken English is bad English".

Here is a a short photo-presentation on Morocco. If anyone has any information about the man singing in this slide show, please let me know. I really liked this melody.

And this one is a cool arabic music video, Her name is Samira Said, (pronounced Sahid), and she just won the Best International Music Award. (Thanks Amanda for info)

Wow, what a small world! I am so excited that you are accepting an oppurtunity to teach in Ifrane! It is really an amazing little town, it reminds me of Switzerland in a way because of the architecture! The campus is great because it is on a hill, but is also aggravating because it is on a hill (because of the seperation it seems to make between you and the culture). The food is cafeteria food through and through, but don't worry Chawarma in town is amazing! Another thing I love about the campus is being able to hear the call for prayer- it is truly beautiful. Oh and across the campus you can see the royal palace! Just ask if you have any questions, I hope I didn't overload you with too much information! Best of luck, Amanda

Yes bring sweatshirts and long-sleved shirts (it is something I wish I would have brought more of)! The weather this summer has been really strange with lots of raining and when I was here there was even hail! It does get hotter during the day though so be prepared for extreems at both ends. For heating there are units in the bathroom and main room- I am not sure how well they work though because we haven't had to use them. I have seen pictures of Ifrane in the winter and there is mounds of snow (and I am not really sure how they go about clearing off paths because of all the stairs). They have a laundry service where all you have to do is drop it off and pick it up- you do have to get tokens at the student store though. Hmmm...what else- The town is really perfect, small and quaint. Le Paix is a great place to eat and it has the best ice cream I have ever tasted. Some of the TA's in my program told us not to eat any of the fish right away- or food in the center marche until your stomach adjusts. The trout is superb though and it is caught in the rivers around Ifrane (which there are a lot of). If you are thinking of doing any gift buying for friends and family Azrou is the place to go because it is not a tourist town and they will give you fair prices. They also have kitchens on each floor (maybe in each professor's quarter) so you can do your own cooking- they have all cooking supplies in town though so don't worry about packing them! But wow, two years you'll be a pro! I saw on your profile you are a math teacher- I believe, I wish you the best of luck! Feel free to write if you have any more questions-
Amanda
